Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Mia is a gem, and she needs a home that will cherish her after surviving on the streets with newborns We initially gave this sweet 1.5-year-old girl some alone time to focus on raising her puppies, but we quickly discovered that Mia really does enjoy having a doggie friend. She is very dog-friendly and would love a playful pup to keep her company in her foster or forever home. Mia is potty trained, incredibly affectionate, and loves being with her people. Her crate is her safe space, and she absolutely loves it! When she’s not relaxing in her crate, you’ll find her playing with the other pups or cuddling on the couch with her foster. She can be a little skittish in certain situations, but considering she spent time living on the streets, it’s completely understandable. With patience, love, and a safe environment, she continues to blossom. At just 42 pounds, Mia is a smaller girl right now, and we’re working on helping her gain some healthy weight. Once she fills out, we expect her to be around 50 pounds. If you’re looking for a very dog-friendly bestie, Mia could be the girl for you. She’s sweet, loving, playful, and ready for a family who will cherish her as much as she deserves. Interested in adopting this pet? Please contact us at questionsawishforanimals for more info.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
