Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Oreo is a sweet, affectionate girl who is ready to find a home of her own. She came to HSMC just in time to give birth to 10 puppies in the comfort of our TLC Center. Now that her puppies are off to their own homes, it’s Oreo’s turn to be spoiled! Oreo loves people, enjoys playing with toys, and is always happy to get out for a walk. She also loves treats and would enjoy a laid-back canine companion to keep her company. Oreo was born on 6/22/2025 and weighs about 40 pounds. She is looking for a loving, inside home where she can enjoy walks, playtime, cuddles, and being someone's special girl. *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County is SC for an adoption fee. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
