Description

Dog Breed: Husky. COURTESY POST: Rescue Ridge does not know the temperament of this dog first hand. Meet Skye• Breed: Husky/Malamute • Sex: Female • Age: 8 years old (DOB: August 2017) • Weight: 90 lbs • Color: White and tan • Eyes: Beautiful blue eyes with a unique little star-shaped marking in her right eye. Skye is a beautiful soul with an even more beautiful personality. She has so much character, is incredibly loving, and has the sweetest way of looking into your eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. She loves snuggling, belly rubs, and spending time with her people. She's happy, playful, and ready to be someone's loyal best friend. The Good: • Fully potty trained • Great with people of all ages • Affectionate, playful, and loves attention • Does not chew on furniture, shoes, or household items Things to Know: • Skye can be selective with other dogs, so slow introductions are important, and she may do best as the only dog in the home. • She does not do well being crated or confined alone in a room. • As a large Husky, she's tall enough to reach tables and counters, so food should never be left unattended. • She gets excited on walks and pulls on the leash. She's always been more of a yard dog, so she'll benefit from someone willing to continue working with her leash manners. She's very strong! Skye came into my life nearly a year ago when her owner asked me to care for her temporarily before moving to Asia. Sadly, they never returned, and she has been with me ever since. This decision is incredibly difficult because Skye has become such a special part of my life. Unfortunately, I will be relocating to Florida and am unable to take her with me. I'm looking for a loving, committed home where Skye can spend her golden years surrounded by love, patience, and plenty of belly rubs. She has so much love to give, and I'm confident she'll make an amazing companion for someone willing to give her the chance she deserves.

Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
