Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Spike (COURTESY POST): If you’re looking for an energetic dog, this is your boy! Spike is also great with other dogs and pretty good with cats, he chases because he wants to play but stops (usually) when told “leave it”. Knows sit and down with hand commands. He knows “off” but seems selective on listening to that one. He is learning to walk on a leash, is crate trained but does still have some accidents. No small kids for Spike due to his energy and loves to jump! He would be an excellent “parkour” dog! Spike would benefit from an active family and especially with another dog. Neutered and uo to date on all vaccines and heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Current family is overwhelmed with two additional dogs that don’t already like each other and especially an exuberant young dog. If you feel you could give spike the home that he deserves please fill out an application and we can discuss him further and set up a meet and greet. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
