This 13-month-old, 15-pound Dachshund-Corgi mix (a "Dorgi," a breed famously loved by Queen Elizabeth!) is a gentle young pup searching for his perfect guide in life. Cody arrived at the rescue with his mother and siblings. After separating from the females, he and his brother, Charlie , became incredibly close. Cody is the more reserved of the two, but he is fiercely curious about the world and deeply wants to connect. He is a quiet observer who loves routine, snacking on treats right from your hand, and listening to a gentle voice. Cody’s Dream Home Setup: A Canine Companion: Cody must live with another dog. He relies heavily on a confident dog friend to show him the ropes and will happily follow them everywhere. A Securely Fenced Yard: Because Cody hasn't learned to walk on a leash yet, a fenced yard is required so he can safely explore, sniff, and play while he builds confidence. (Case-by-case exceptions considered if you reach out!) An Adult-Only Sanctuary:{C} Because of his shy nature, a quiet home without children is best. Due to his Dorgi prey drive, he cannot live with cats or small animals. What to Expect on Your Journey Together:{C} {C} Building Trust: Cody is still getting used to human touch, though he now happily lets us stroke his face. He needs a patient adopter, preferably with experience with shy dogs, who will let him approach at his own pace. Leash & Harness Training: Because our rescue ranch is near lots of wild animals, Cody hasn't done leash walks yet. His future family will need to start leash training very slowly indoors or in the yard using positive reinforcement. Double the Love? Cody would absolutely love to be adopted with his brother, Charlie! However, if you already have a gentle, friendly dog at home to mentor him, Cody will do just fine on his own. Cody is healthy, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and completely ready to start his next chapter. He just needs a patient soul to show him that the world is a safe place.
