Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (long coat). Please contact ADOPTION (adoptdoggieharmony) for more information about this pet. Tubby was surrendered by a breeder, so he's not accustomed to being a family dog. For that reason we're looking for an adult home, or at least older, respectful kids. He is older and just needs a calm, predictable environment. He would be great for senior citizens too. Another dog would also help him feel more comfortable. He is affectionate but just needs time to get to know you. He is cautious to start. Age: 8 years Weight: 23 lbs Temperament: Gets along with other dogs, older respectful kids Training: trained to pee pads, crate-trained, needs basic training Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative Email for questions: loramyers51yahoo To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
