Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450. Murphy is a little over 4 months old, which means he is basically a full-time puppy with a big personality packed into a tiny package. He is affectionate, talkative, cuddly, playful, and food-motivated, and he’s always ready for fun, snacks, and snuggles. He is still working on potty training, but he is already crate trained and doing much better with being crated. Murphy can be a little skittish when he first meets new people or dogs, but he warms up quickly and, once he knows you’re safe, he’s all in. He used to struggle with separation anxiety when he first arrived, but he has come a long way and is doing so much better now. Murphy is good with kids of all ages, and while he can be picky about his dog buddies, he does enjoy having the right playmates. He is also pretty good at keeping himself entertained, loves cuddling up next to his foster dad, and hasn’t shown any interest in escaping the yard. Still just a puppy, Murphy is learning as he grows, but he has already proven he’s a sweet, smart little guy with lots of love to give. If you’re looking for a puppy who is equal parts cute, cuddly, and full of personality, Murphy might just be your boy.

Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
