Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. 8/27/2026 Duke XI is an owner surrender looking for a new home. Hi! My name is Duke XI! I am a handsome 8 year old fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to my family moving and not wanting me in the new home. I am described as friendly, active, protective, playful, affectionate, nervous, and obedient! It is important I have a dog and kid free home because I can be very stingy with my food and do not like people or dogs taking it away from me. I am house trained, crate trained, and sleeps anywhere near humans. I am not a fan of being left alone if the humans are away and will be sad. I am afraid of fireworks and my humans take precautions when they go off to help me know I'm safe and ok. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, rubberballs, and pig ears! If you think I would make a great addition to your family contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

A.K.A.: Deutscher Boxer, German Boxer, Dutch Boxer, Boxer dog, Boxy, Boxerman
Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
