Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. BONDED SENIOR GIRLS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME — MEET CHIQUITA & PEPITA Chiquita and Pepita are 12-year-old bonded girls who have spent their entire lives together, and we will make sure they stay together for the rest of their lives. ❤️ Their story is bittersweet. They lived a very quiet life in a camper with their elderly mom and really didn’t know much of the world outside of her. Sadly, their mom became very ill and was admitted to the hospital and then entered hospice care. Her niece made the long drive to New Mexico to pick up Chiquita and Pepita and bring them here so they would be safe and cared for. Imagine being 12 years old and suddenly losing the only person and home you’ve ever known. Because their world had always been so small, these girls can be shy when they first meet someone new. But give them a little time and patience, and you’ll discover two incredibly sweet little souls. They aren’t looking for excitement—they’re looking for someone who will make them feel safe and loved again. When they arrived, both girls needed quite a bit of medical care. Neither had been spayed, and their teeth were in very poor condition. Chiquita had especially severe dental disease with painful abscesses. Both girls have now been spayed, had complete dental care, received their vaccines, and are healthy for their age. Now the hard part is behind them, and it’s time for their next chapter. At 12 years old, Chiquita and Pepita shouldn’t have to start over alone. They have already lost their mom and the only home they knew—we won’t let them lose each other, too. They will only be adopted together. We know adopting two senior dogs isn’t for everyone. But somewhere out there is a special person who sees what we see: two precious girls who still have so much love left to give and deserve to spend their golden years together in a warm bed, good food, and someone to call their own

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
