Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed. Hi…I’m Minnie but my foster mom calls me Minnie Moose! I am a pit bull terrier mix estimated to be between 3-4 years old weighing 75lbs. I am very playful and energetic dog, but enjoy the ocassional nap curled up beside my person on the couch. I LOVE Kong toys or any kind of chew toy, but will shred up a stuffed animal in sheer seconds. I love to run around my foster family's fenced in back yard and play with my sibilings, both fur and human. My foster mom says I am very strong and do not realize my own strength and size at times, so it is not recommended for me to be in a home with small dogs, cats, or children under 5. I am house trained, however on ocassion if crated too long will have an accident in my crate. I am also crate trained, though I would prefer to be free roaming. Oh treats…I also love treats. I will do anything for a treat! I am very smart and had already mastered sit and give paw. I am working on learning other tricks. My leash manners are still a work in progress as I am very strong. Minnie is up to date on all required vaccinations and spayed. If you are interested in adopting her, please apply at .pawsacrosspittsburgh/adopt. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
