Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). OTHER PETS: Chip has shown interest in other dogs but has not initiated play. He's a great communicator and gives feedback to other pups when he's uncomfortable. While he enjoys initiating play, he has a rough play style that may be too much for some. Another well socialized dog who is ok with rough n' tumble play may be a fit. A meet is a must. [Likely (With proper introduction)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn will be the best match For Chip. Additionally, due to Chip's high energy he is likely not a good fit for a first time owner. [Some Experience] KIDS: Chip's can sometimes be a bit of a bull dozer during play, likely knocking over small humans by accident making Chip a poor fit for households with people below the age of 15. Minors and children should be actively supervised to keep everyone safe and comfortable. [15 +] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Chip, a young/adolescent pup, still has a lot of the energy and will benefit from an owner that can give him plenty of age appropriate exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles, games, sniffing, and learning new tricks to fully meet his needs, as well as plenty of rest in between! [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete] VETERINARY CARE: Regular visits to the Vet will help keep Chip in ideal health in a new home. [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Chip may be a counter surfer in a new home. Positive reinforcement and effective management (setting up the envrionment to help him succeed, like removing food items and temptations) will help him form a strong human-canine bond whlie learning new skills and fun tricks, and building confidence as he matures. [Moderate] GROOMING: Regular brushing we help decrease Chip shedding in the house. [Minimal]

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
