Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (short coat). ❤️ MEET TRAPPER — FROM TERRIFIED AND BROKEN TO READY FOR HOME ❤️ Trapper has been with AZ Mastiff Rescue for about a year and his transformation has been incredible. When he came to us after being trapped in Rio Verde, he was skin and bones, terrified of people, and suffering from a dislocated hip. He wouldn’t allow anyone to touch him, so we spent weeks simply earning his trust before we could safely get him to the vet. He eventually had hip surgery, healed beautifully, and has become an absolutely amazing Cane Corso. Today, Trapper is about 2 years old, healthy, happy, and thriving. He is: Great with male and female dogs House trained Doggie-door trained Non-destructive in the home Sweet, playful, and affectionate Loving life with his foster sister Because he loves having a canine companion, Trapper needs a home with at least one other friendly dog. This boy is incredibly special to all of us. We saw where he started, and we know how hard he worked to trust again. Now it’s time for Trapper to finally have the one thing he’s been waiting for — his forever family. ❤️

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
