Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Hank-a-potamus, a happy goofball of a boy, who is dog social and will helm your couch better than just about anyone. Fosters share that Hank is a house hippo, who met their neighbors' 5 and 7 year olds. He loved the kids, didnât jump or get excited and ignored their bikes and scooters. He was unphased by all the various household noises like vacuuming, doorbells, tv; and gardeners in the neighboring yards. He didnât bark at the fence or anything. He does occasionally get the zoomies which get him off the couch, and he had a blast paying chase and tug with their Golden retriever. They believe he would love a home with another playful dog. He is tolerant being the `demo dog` for dog handling training at the shelter and had a blast with a squeaky toy in the volunteer room after he was done. Come meet this loving Chonk today!

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
