Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. Meet Yogurt! Yogurt is a 12-year-old Pit Bull/Staffy mix weighing about 58 pounds, and she’s the sweetest, most easygoing girl you could hope to meet. She absolutely loves people, affection, treats, and—perhaps most importantly—her naps! Yogurt is house trained, crate trained, and has wonderful manners in the home, although she might have trouble giving you your space while you have food near you :). She walks nicely on a leash, although she likes to stop and take her time rather than hurry along. She’s very treat motivated and would happily accept snacks from just about anyone. She rides well in the car and has a low energy level, making her an excellent companion for someone looking for a more relaxed dog. While Yogurt enjoys getting outside for daily walks and some yard time, she doesn’t need a ton of exercise. She may occasionally zoom around the yard with her dog friends for a few minutes, but she’s usually happiest heading back inside for another nap. She does well with other dogs and is great at taking their cues. She hasn’t lived with cats, but her foster hasn’t seen any obvious prey drive. Yogurt loves everyone she meets but would do best with older, respectful children. She tends to knock down little ones and may think every hand has a treat. She’d be happy in a loving home with a yard, but a home without one could work just as well as long as she gets her daily walks. Yogurt recently had a few lumps removed, and her vets did not have any concerns about them. She also had quite a few teeth removed during her dental, and she’s feeling so much better now! She does have a larger lump on her chest, but it was evaluated and tested by her vets and determined to be a fatty lipoma. It should not affect her health, and she’s otherwise doing great. If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate companion who will happily spend her days soaking up love, enjoying a few treats, and snoozing by your side, Yogurt may be your perfect match. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
