Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. SADIE - ENERGETIC AND FRIENDLY Age: 6 Years Sex: Female Size: Large Good With Dogs: Possibly Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes With her expressive face, Sadie (aka Sexy) is a head turner. When she isn’t posing for pictures, Sadie is enjoying her time with her foster dad and going for long walks with our volunteers. Sadie quickly settled into her new foster home. She is a wonderful companion and trustworthy around the house. Sadie has spent time around people and had a few dog friends, all of which were male dogs. Sadie enjoys chasing cats way too much to live with one. A very smart dog, Sadie will make a great addition to most households. Her original family fell on hard times and thanks to the help of Passaic Animal Shelter, we are able to bring Sadie into our foster program. Whether you are looking for a hiking companion, a friend to keep you active, or just an all-around good dog, Sadie is the dog for you. Sadie is eligible for our foster to adopt program. If you would like to meet and foster or adopt Sadie, please reach out to us at contactsedonashepherd or fill out an online adoption application.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
