Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Caramel is every bit as sweet as her name⦠She is a beautiful 1-year-old red and white Terrier mix weighing about 44 pounds. She is a young, sweet girl with a wonderfully gentle personality. One of the best things about Caramel is how nicely she walks on leash. She's a lovely companion who is curious about the world and ready to get out there and experience everything life has to offer. She checked out the nearby turkeys and walked right on. A little more interested in the squirrels but was easily redirected. She sits on command and takes treats gently. She came into the shelter with her three sisters (Ruby, Shyanne, and Buttercup) and greets other dogs at the shelter very politely. Caramel would love a loving, active family ready to include her in their adventures and give this sweet girl the life she's waiting for. Come meet this sweet little Caramel, you might just find that she sticks to your heart, too. Make an appointment through yoloshelter/dogs, or email adoptyoloshelter.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
