Description
Dog Breed: Husky (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $250. Hi, hooman! My name is Dolly Parton .I’m a 50 lb. 5-year-old Siberian Husky, and yes, I know I’m gorgeous. Just look at those black-and-white markings. My foster mom says I am very mellow for my breed . I can have some sass for sure, but I prefer playing with my foster brother, chewing on stuffies, or just chilling on my doggie bed next to my humans . I have not shown any signs of jumping the fence at my foster home or digging my way out. I love being in a home so much, why would I try? I have loved every person I have met. I do not live with kids currently but I have met a few and did great with them. I’m potty trained and crate trained, although let’s be clear… I’m not exactly a fan of my crate. Why would I want to be in there when my people are OUT THERE?! I do stay in my crate for 8+ hours a day while my foster parents work though and I survive. I am great with dogs. I live with my foster brother who is a Great Dane and we get along so well. I attend doggie daycare a couple times a week and love it so much. If you like to play, we will get along just fine. I would also be ok as a solo dog but would need my person to walk and play with me daily. Speaking of walks, I love them but I do need some work with the leash . As for cats… I haven’t officially met one yet, so that chapter is still TBD. With slow introductions, I might decide they’re worthy of my friendship. Maybe. No promises as I am a husky. If you’re looking for a beautiful, mellow, treat-loving Husky girl who wants to be part of the family, I think we should talk. Apply for me today at bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
