This sweet boy was sitting in a Georgia shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized that very day. With only hours left, he was pulled to safety—and now, thanks to Pawfect Match Rescue, Benny has a second chance to find the family he deserves. Benny is an approximately 9-month-old German Shepherd mix with all the fun, goofy energy you’d expect from a puppy! He loves to play, enjoys chewing on his bones, and when he’s finally worn himself out, he is more than happy to settle in for a good nap. And this smart boy already has some important skills under his belt! Benny is potty trained and crate trained. He is also very food motivated, which can be a huge help as he continues learning and training. Benny is still young, and he does have more to learn. He needs a family who understands that becoming the best dog he can be takes patience, consistency, guidance, and love. Give this boy the chance to learn what’s expected of him, and he has so much potential to absolutely thrive. He came within hours of losing his life. Now he’s just waiting for someone to show him what forever feels like.

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds.
