Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. MEET ROMA — A GIANT PUPPY WITH A GIANT PERSONALITY! Hi! My name is Roma, and I’m a 7–8 month old fawn Cane Corso girl. I am a giant puppy in EVERY sense of the word. Apparently, we are working on something called “impulse control.” I’m also told I need to stop jumping on people. I’m a little confused about that one. I jump up, they tell me “DOWN!” and I go down. Seems like I’m following directions perfectly! ‍♀️ My best friend is Theo, a brindle Mastiff puppy about my age. He’s my BESTIE! ❤️ We love chasing each other around the yard, playing with balls, wrestling, running, and when we get to stay together, we even cuddle up to sleep. We are basically two giant goofy puppies figuring out life together. Right now, I’ve moved to another foster home so I can work on my leash skills and manners. My four-legged friends told me Dana and Sara are REALLY good at teaching this stuff — and apparently there are TREATS involved — so I’m pretty excited about training! I’ve been told I can be a little obnoxious sometimes. I prefer the word overexuberant. Everything is just so exciting to me! Good food. Treats. Toys. People giving me attention. Getting petted every day. Friends to play with. A safe place to sleep. These are things I didn’t always have. I was found abandoned in Central California and very malnourished. Now that I’m safe, healthy and surrounded by good things, sometimes I just don’t know how to contain all that happiness. ❤️ My ideal forever home: • Another dog would be wonderful — preferably a confident, calmer dog around 2–3 years old who can help teach me the ropes but is still young enough to PLAY! • Kids 10+ would be best because I’m a big, enthusiastic puppy who is still learning not to jump. • A family committed to continuing my training and helping me become the amazing adult Corso I’m meant to be. • Plenty of playtime, balls, treats and love! Oh…and unlike some dogs, I’m really not much of a water girl. I’ll leave the swimming to somebody else. I’m still a diamond in the rough, but underneath all this giant puppy enthusiasm is a sweet girl who just needs structure, patience and a family of her own. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
