Description
Dog Breed: Shar Pei / Mixed. Have you always wanted a cat, but only had room in your home for a dog? Then have we got the guy for you! Zeus is a swinging single senior with a lot of life to live. His favorite things are to rub against your legs, walk in front of you in zig zags while you're trying to move in a straight line, and curl up and snooze on a random blanket in a dark room. Oh, and he's EXTREMELY food and treat motivated! To add to the cat mystique, he's almost completely deaf, so ignoring you is kind of a character trait. He's house trained, allowed to free roam but can be crated if needed, and will also let you know if he needs to go outside. He's at least part Sharpei, so he has those cute little mouse ears, a rougher coat, and a spotted tongue. And he has these little gray patches of fur under his eyes that create a seriously adorable expression. He will follow you around the house, but will settle in and relax at your feet. He can manage a few steps, but more than that might be difficult on a regular basis. He has a few favorite toys (including a couple stuffies and a jolly ball) that he'll randomly play with. But his main thing is being around his people. He's neutered and heartworm negative, ready to join a new home for his next chapter. We'd love to see this gent have the best rest of his life. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
