Description
Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua / Mixed. This boy is one of 32 we rescued from Louisiana, where animal welfare protections are almost nonexistent. Puppies there are often born into neglect — chainedup mother dogs, dirt yards, no food, no vet care, and no one looking out for them. Many are dumped, abandoned, or left outside in dangerous conditions. Vinny is 2 years old and weighs just 18 pounds, but when you first see him you might think he’s still a puppy. He’s small, lightly built, and has those adorable longer legs that give him a youthful, bouncy look. His ears stick out to the sides, making him even more endearing. The shelter lists his breed as Miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua, and while that definitely fits his size and personality, we honestly thought he was a tiny Lab mix when he first arrived. He has that sweet little lablike body, gentle expression, and soft, loving nature that make you do a doubletake. We also see a touch of Rat Terrier in his structure and coloring. Vinny is a calm, wellbehaved boy who has been nothing but gentle and easygoing since arriving. He hasn’t been here long, and we are working on house training. All he wants is to be held and loved. This precious boy is truly someone you have to meet — once he’s in your arms, you’ll understand exactly why he’s so special. Please submit an application on our website. .indianasaveadog. Breed overview
Overview:
The Chipin, a lively cross between the Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher, originated in the United States as a designer breed. These small yet sturdy dogs typically weigh between 5-10 pounds, boasting a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors like black, tan, chocolate, and fawn. Physically, they often inherit the Chihuahua’s apple-shaped head or the Miniature Pinscher’s sleek build, with expressive eyes and alert ears. Temperamentally, Chipins are known for being affectionate, energetic, and surprisingly courageous, often displaying a "big dog" personality in a small package. They can be excellent companions for individuals or families with older children, and their compact size makes them highly suitable for apartment living, provided they receive adequate exercise. While generally healthy, potential health concerns include patellar luxation, dental issues, and heart conditions, inherited from their parent breeds. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial for a well-adjusted Chipin.
