Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Hardcore For Pits Rosalyn has been with us for just over a year. Her temporary spot was just that, temporary. We stretched it to a year and we can stretch no further. If a foster home is not found she will be going into a kennel. We have given her a quiet, stress free environment and trained her with compassion and grace. We fear that all of the progress we have made with her will be lost. Rosalyn is smart, affectionate and playful. The one thing we have learned is that she is fearful. If you follow us you know that we have had and still have many fearful dogs and we get them where they need to be. We never rush things! She will take a bit of time to settle in but once she trusts you, she is yours. Her favorite volunteer walker can do anything to her! Rosalyn will need a foster or forever home with someone who will not push and just wait, an extremely hard thing to do.A dog like her is indeed special and we hope to find a person that will see her for who she is and take her home. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
