Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois. Adoption Fee: $425. ____________________________________________________________ Coordinator: Carol Aulick Pepper Potts is a petite girl with a large personality. She currently located in Virginia. She came from a situation where she did not get a lot of exposure to new things so is a little cautious at first but quickly recovers especially with a little encouragement. Pepper is wicked smart and very agile so I think she could excel at most any sport. She is a lot of fun - she loves splashing in the kiddie pool and playing with her jolly ball. She grew up around the owner's grandchildren 8 years old and up. Pepper has prey drive so will not be a good candidate for a family with cats. She is very sweet and enjoys snuggles. She can be reactive to other dogs and we will be testing her with other dogs shortly. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
