Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Doc! Doc is a 9-month-old Pit Bull mix, weighing around 45–50 lbs, and he’s basically a big, goofy puppy wrapped in a black coat! This handsome guy LOVES people and has never met a belly rub he didn’t like. He’s a total cuddle bug who wants to be wherever his people are. He’s also smart, food-motivated, and already knows sit, wait, and come! Doc is still working on his puppy manners, especially leash skills, impulse control, and house training. He’s eager to learn and making great progress, but he needs an adopter who will provide patience, structure, training, and plenty of positive reinforcement. He’s an active boy who enjoys walks, toys, car rides, playing in water, and hanging out with his favorite humans. A secure, tall fenced yard would be ideal—Doc has some serious hops! Doc enjoys other dogs but can get overly excited, so he’ll need supervised play and a dog-savvy companion. We don't recommend small dogs. He hasn’t been tested with cats or children. And his funniest feature? The way he drinks water. Think less “drinking” and more “snorkeling.” Doc may still be a work in progress, but underneath those puppy antics is an incredibly sweet, trusting, affectionate boy who just wants someone to love him and show him the ropes. ❤️ Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
