Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). How could we possibly say no to saving these two innocent babies?! Meet the newest members of the 4 Paws family—Dolly Parton & Carl Dean! These two puppies were found as strays (8-week-old ) and landed in the care of our good friends at Gloucester County Animal Shelter. After no one came forward to claim them during their stray hold, we knew we couldn’t leave these tiny babies sitting in an overcrowded shelter. Thankfully, we were able to bring them into 4 Paws and get them safely into a foster home where they can be puppies while we get them fully vetted and ready for adoption! Taking in two puppies at once means double the food, supplies, vetting and everything in between. If you’d like to help us welcome Dolly & Carl and send them some much-needed goodies from their wishlist, we would be incredibly grateful! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
