He was adopted out as a puppy along with his sister in 2012 here in TN scroll forward 14 yrs. The rescue got contacted that he was found in a home with his deceased owner and his sister. They did not know how long they had been deceased. Only Otto and the cat made it out alive. We were contacted due to the chip and we found out that the adopter that we adopted to gave our dogs away without contracting us. BUT we got Otto back and this won’t happen again. Otto is the sweet, calmest old guy you’d ever want to meet. He looks at you with his big cow eyes and you have to wonder why anyone would want to give him away! Oh, by the way his mom was a Dachshund and his daddy was a Chihuahua so he’s a Chiweenie. We want to believe that there is someone out there that will give him his last furever home. This boy is no trouble and just wants to follow you around the house and yard. He truly is a gem. Our must haves for him are: A fenced in yard Preferably another senior small dog since he lived with on oh and a cat would be fine too Please no apartments, condos or high rises Otto sadly lost all of his teeth except one canine due to no dental care but other than that his blood work is great and he’s in great shape except for the need to lose about 3 more lbs. Please give him that last home, he really deserves a great last home. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: .allamericandachshundrescue/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
