Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 450.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Zelle, or cash only. donateyorkierescuehouston or, if you prefer: our fundraising platform, Zeffy Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. This puppy is available FOSTER-TO-ADOPT only as he has not yet been neutered. Puppy Adoption Requirement: Because this puppy is currently too young/small to be altered, 50% of the adoption fee is due at the time of placement. Once the puppy reaches the appropriate age and weight, the adopter is required to present the puppy to our designated veterinarian for spay/neuter surgery. The remaining 50% of the adoption fee must be paid in full before the puppy is picked up following surgery. Completion of the scheduled spay/neuter is a condition of the adoption. Meet Biscuit! Date of Birth: June 7, 2026 Biscuit is the 1st born. Someone definitely added extra sweetness to this batch! Biscuit is one of Cookie’s precious puppies, and between that gorgeous chocolate-colored coat, fuzzy little face, and those beautiful eyes, this baby clearly understood the assignment. Biscuit is still young and currently spending his days growing, playing, exploring, and learning about everything around him. His adult personality is continuing to emerge, which means his forever family will have the wonderful opportunity — and responsibility — of helping shape the dog he will become. Like every puppy, Biscuit will need continued socialization, house-training, basic manners, supervision, patience, and plenty of positive experiences as he grows. His ideal family understands that puppyhood doesn’t last forever. Biscuit is looking for people committed to loving him through the adorable puppy stage, the mischievous teenage stage, adulthood, and all the way into his senior years. Fair warning: Biscuit may cause excessive baby talk, spontaneous cuddling, and an inability to stop taking pictures of him. FOSTER HOME NEEDED! Biscuit is also looking for a loving foster home while he continues to grow and prepare for his forever family. Fostering gives him the chance to experience life in a home, receive individual attention, work on routine and manners, and continue building confidence. Yorkie Rescue Houston provides the rescue support — you provide the safe place and the cuddles. When he is old enough, you present him to our vet for neuter surgery and only then, do we finalize the adoption. PUPPY NOTE: Puppies are adorable, but they are also a commitment. They require house-training, continued socialization, supervision, training, appropriate exercise, and patience while they learn how to become great family members. Please consider whether your schedule and lifestyle are appropriate for raising a young puppy before applying.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
