Description
Dog Breed: Basset Hound. Adoption Fee: 300. Please contact Sally (Ohbassetrescueyahoo) for more information about this pet. Meet Sunny! He is a four year-old basset hound looking for a new home! Sunny came to us from a local shelter in the St. Louis area after losing his home when his parents fell on hard times. He is a sweet boy and does good with other dogs, however he does show a lot of interest in cats so we would recommend a cat free home for him! Sunny is neutered and up-to-date on shots and micro chipped. His adoption fee is $300 and he will require a home with a fenced in yard. He is currently located in the Columbus area. Adoption Process: Apply online at ohiobassetrescue. Applicants who have been approved within 6 months can email us at ohbassetrescueyahoo to schedule a meet. Please note we only process applications where the adopter lives in OH, IN, KY, PA, WV, lower MI. Adopters MUST be willing to travel to meet the dog they are adopting. Dogs locations are listed on their profiles. Please understand we are all volunteers and will respond as soon as we can as we all have jobs and family obligations.

Overview:
The Basset Hound is a charming and distinctive breed, originating in France as a scent hound primarily used for hunting hare and rabbit. Easily recognized by their long, droopy ears, sad-looking eyes, and short, sturdy legs, they possess an incredibly powerful sense of smell. Despite their somewhat mournful expression, Bassets are known for their gentle, laid-back, and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful companions for families. They are generally good with children and other pets, though their stubborn streak and loud baying bark require consistent training. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient daily exercise, their tendency to follow their nose means a secure yard is essential. Potential owners should be aware of common health concerns such as ear infections due to their long ears, back issues, and bloat. Overall, the Basset Hound is a loyal and loving, if sometimes comically determined, addition to many homes.
