Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location CINDERELLA IS WAITING FOR HER HAPPILY EVER AFTER! Cinderella hasn’t had the fairy-tale beginning she deserved. She came to us possibly suffering from heat stroke, but thankfully, she’s now on the road to a brighter future. At just 41 pounds, this little princess is ready for someone to show her what being loved truly feels like. We’re still getting to know her, but we do know that Cinderella is good with other dogs! She has not yet completed her veterinary care, so right now she is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Maybe Cinderella didn’t have a fairy godmother when she needed one most… but YOU could be the one who changes her story. Her glass slipper may not fit everyone, but somewhere out there is the person who will look at her and say, “That’s my girl.” Could you help Cinderella find her happily ever after? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
