Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Terrier / Mixed.

If you’re looking for a best friend who wants to be involved in absolutely everything you do, Winnie might just be your girl! Pooh Bear, affectionately called Winnie, is a 1-year-old, 45-pound Lab mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. She is goofy, playful, incredibly affectionate, and truly just loves being loved. Winnie’s favorite place in the world is wherever her people are. She is an expert snuggler, professional morning kiss giver, and would happily spend an entire evening curled up beside you on the couch. She loves being part of whatever her humans are doing and will happily follow you around the house just to make sure she doesn’t miss anything. And when she wakes up in the morning, she is especially excited to see her people and is more than happy to cover them in kisses! But don’t let her cuddly side fool you. This girl LOVES to play! Give her a stick, a stuffy, a bully stick, or a doggy friend and she is ready for a good time. Winnie loves romping around with her foster family’s resident dog, playing outside, going for walks, and proudly carrying around whatever treasure she finds in the yard. She even loves a good game of chase, especially when she has a stick she absolutely refuses to give you! Winnie does great with other dogs and would love having a playful canine buddy. She can be a little enthusiastic when meeting new friends, and personal space is still a work in progress, so her jumping and excitement may be a lot for some dogs at first. Once everyone settles in, though, she absolutely loves having a friend to play with. She has also been working hard on her house training and is doing great! With a consistent routine, accidents have become very few and far between, although she may still have an occasional overnight accident as she continues to learn. Winnie sleeps wonderfully in her crate overnight and settles right in for bedtime. Her biggest work in progress is being home alone. Winnie has separation anxiety and can bark continuously when her people leave, so she would thrive in a home where someone is around often, such as a work-from-home household. She would also do best with someone who has the time and patience to continue helping her learn that being alone is okay. Because of her barking when left alone, apartment or shared-wall living would probably not be the best fit for her. And cats? Winnie actually LOVES a good kitty snuggle and has lived with a cat. She has been known to cuddle up with and even groom her feline friends. However, she can occasionally become reactive or possessive of a comfy spot when she’s settled in, so a cat-free home may be the easiest fit. A home with cats could potentially work with humans who are comfortable managing those moments and continuing to help Winnie learn about sharing her space. More than anything, Winnie is a ridiculously sweet, people-oriented girl who loves her humans with her whole heart. She’ll make you laugh, follow you around the house, convince you to chase her for the stick she absolutely refuses to give you, cover you in morning kisses, and then curl up beside you like she hasn’t seen you in three years. Winnie is a young pup who is still learning, but she has SO much love to give. She wants to be included, loved, and part of the family. In return, she promises cuddles, goofy games, playful adventures, endless kisses, and a whole lot of love. Whoever gets to call Winnie theirs is getting one seriously special girl.
