APOLLO - Pointer-Unknown Mix Male Dog For Adoption in Sacramento, California, USA

Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / English Pointer / Mixed (medium coat).

Meet Apollo! ?? If you like your dogs BIG, affectionate, and just a little bit goofy, Apollo is your guy! At 86 pounds, Apollo is a substantial boy—but fortunately, he’s also a very good boy. He absolutely loves his canine friends and has a blast playing in playgroups. He’s also wonderfully responsive to his handlers and eager to interact with the people around him. Apollo is famous for his big boy lean. You know the one—where a dog decides the best way to ask for love is to casually lean his entire considerable self against you. Resistance is futile. ?? He can use a little brush-up on his leash manners, especially when he’s excited to get out and explore. We suspect that as he settles into a home and gets into a routine, some of that excitement will naturally settle down. And he’s already shown us that he has the ability to be an absolute rock star out in the world. Volunteers recently took Apollo to Starbucks for a pup cup, and this big guy was a total professional. He walked calmly on leash, laid down and took everything in, and when an off-leash dog charged toward him, Apollo remained non-reactive and composed. That’s a pretty impressive outing for a shelter dog! So, if your type is big dogs with big hearts, big leans, and big personalities, Apollo is ready to meet you. He may take up a little extra space on the couch, but we're pretty sure he'll make up for it in love. Apollo has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match!
