Bogart is a handsome 3-year-old Beagle who is still settling into his foster home. His foster family is getting to know him more every day, and we’ll continue to update his bio as his personality comes out! So far, Bogart has shown us that he loves walks, attention, pets, and snuggling. One of his favorite places to be is belly-up on a lap, soaking up all the attention he can get. Bogart is potty trained and has been doing very well with his house manners. When he first arrived, he tried to mark several times during his first couple of hours in the house, but since then he has had no accidents. He will even scratch at the door when he wants to go outside. He is working on his leash manners and currently pulls when he's excited about getting out for a walk. He's also not a big fan of his crate and would much rather be hanging out with his people. And yes, Bogart comes with the classic Beagle bark! He can be quite the little watchdog and isn't afraid to let you know when something interesting is happening. One very important thing his future family will need to know is that Bogart is a flight risk. If a door or gate is open, he is determined to see what's on the other side! His family will need to be extremely careful around open doors, gates, and other potential escape routes. When he's outside in a fenced yard, Bogart can also be stubborn about coming back inside if it's not his idea. He doesn't currently come reliably when called and may flop over belly-up when his foster family tries to grab his harness or collar to bring him inside. Continued positive training and patience will be important. Bogart also sheds, so his future family should be prepared for some classic Beagle hair around the house. There's still plenty more to discover about this handsome guy as he settles in, but we're already seeing a sweet dog who loves his people, enjoys affection, and has plenty of personality.
