Simon Says… adopt me! Simon is a sweet, goofy, leggy 50-pound boy who is probably around 3 years old looks a little like someone shrunk a Great Dane to 40% and stirred in some extras. He came to rescue very underweight and a few teeth short of a full set, but he has a fantastic appetite, excellent energy, and is already starting to look better with consistent care. Simon says: I love food, and toys! This boy eats like he has never met a meal he didn’t appreciate. He is food-motivated, which will be helpful for training, routine-building, and helping him continue to gain weight. Simon is quickly becoming a professional at food puzzles or locating his meal scattered in the backyard to keep his brain busy. He also really likes to toss around toys or shred a stuffie. Simon says: I like people. He is friendly, handleable, and wants to be near his humans. Simon hopes you like getting kisses as much as he likes to give them. Movie night? Count him in. He loves a comfortable spot to relax with his friends. If there's nothing going on, he'll just find a comfortable spot to lay. Walks or hikes? He's pretty good on a leash, neutral to dogs in public, and very happy to be out stretching his legs and smelling the smells with you. Simon says: I need structure and may do best with someone who has a sense of humor. This is the important part: Simon is still working on house manners. He is not reliably housetrained yet and has had accidents in his crate. He will need a practical adopter who can manage him with a consistent potty routine, supervision, and limited freedom until he earns more trust. He pees outside when given the opportunity and has been accident free lately, but his future home should understand that it will likely take time for him to really understand the "only ever outside" part. Simon says: Dogs are fine. Simon has two dog foster sisters and has been fantastic around them, though he really doesn't show much interest in them. He he hasn't encountered children while in foster but we think he'd do best with kids 10+ because he can take food with a hard mouth and can occasionally be a little too enthusiastic in his efforts to lick your face. Simon is not a finished product, but he is an incredibly sweet dog with a lot of potential. He's not hard to live with right now with supervision, potty breaks, and keeping food reasonably out of reach, and he's so smart and eager to please that he will turn into a wonderful companion with time to settle in and some training.
