BETTY - Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix Female Dog For Adoption in Santa Cruz, California, USA

Dog Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat).

Meet Betty, the staffie mix. Betty arrived to the Shelter most recently after spending some time in a home that ultimately was not a fit long term. Betty lived in a home with a 9 year old pittie in this most recent home and did well. A home with another dog may be a fit after a meet ‘n greet at the Shelter prior to adoption. She was observed to be house trained in her most recent home. Betty’s favorite activities in her most recent home are getting pets, walks and riding in the car with the windows down. Betty was curious about the chickens in the home but never bothered them in their run. Betty has learned some skills in her most recent home including: responding to her name, sit, heel and come. She would thrive in a home where she can continue to bond with her adopter through positive reinforcement based training. Betty would do best in a home without children and/or home environment where children do not frequent. She finds them a bit scary and wants to avoid them. Adopters will need to be mindful of this in interactions moving forward in their day to day. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
