Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Hound / Mixed.

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. Meet Subaru, or Roo, as we like to call her. My husband has nicknamed her "Super Roo". Subaru is approximately 10 months old and currently weighs 36lbs. She is a little skinny so she may still do a little growing. We have no idea what breed she is. Likely a mix of many. Subaru is a mix of a chill dog and lots of fun. She loves to play and wrestle with her foster siblings but also loves a good nap when everyone is resting. She would probably do best with dogs that also love to play. She still has puppy energy and doesn't always understand when another dog is done playing, but she is learning. She loves to pounce and paw at her playmates, loves playing in water and playing with tug toys. She does get a little vocal while playing tug, but that's just her being a dog. She loves toys. Her favorites are chew toys. She would probably love stuffies but I think they would get destroyed very quickly . Subaru is kennel trained. She does whine when she is left alone in her kennel while we are away. But, I think she will grow out of this. She doesn't whine in her kennel while she is sleeping at night when we are home. It feels like Subaru has lived at our house her whole life because she learned our routine really quickly and sleeps in and stays quiet until we are up in the morning. She hasn't had any accidents in her kennel but has had a couple of potty accidents in the house. So we think she is really close to being potty trained but we are still working on it. Subaru is still learning puppy manners. She will currently jump to put her front paws on you to get your attention, but we are working on this and we are currently working on learning to sit. We haven't seen any food aggression towards humans or animals, she takes treats very gently from your hand and she seems to ignore my outdoor cat. I'm not sure how she would do with an indoor cat because she would probably try to play with it and most cats wouldn't understand that. She does like to bark at new things when she is confused by them, like sheep and cats, but you just have to reassure her that these things are ok. She takes direction and correction from humans and dogs very well. She is eager to please and learn. I already love this sweet girl so much. She is the best! A couple funny things I've noticed about Subaru are...she doesn't seem to like pumpkin and she is still trying to figure out if she likes peanut butter. Things my dogs love, but she eats around the pumpkin on her food and will only lick a little peanut butter out of a bowl . Subaru is located in Arkansas, but transport to the New England area is available. Adopter must be able to pick up on Saturdays in MD, PA, NJ, or CT. For questions or more info, email apps.aasrgmail. To apply to adopt, You can find my form "ADOPT A STRAY RESCUE" at: form.jotform/212690945239059 Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350.
