Meet Prince, Your Very Own Prince Charming! Prince is a 3-year-old, 61-pound Terrier mix with a big personality, a sweet heart, and an adorable obsession with his favorite toy! This handsome boy carries his toy everywhere, and the cutest part...if you tell him to “go get your toy,” he'll run off and bring it back! Prince recently enjoyed some time away from the shelter, and he was an absolutely wonderful houseguest! He hopped right into the car, settled in nicely, and even tagged along for a grocery pickup where he was friendly with the employee. Once inside the house, Prince showed off just how smart he is! He already knows sit, lay down, stay, drop it, and leave it. He's also treat-motivated, loves playing fetch, and has a surprisingly gentle side. He did great around the vacuum cleaner and showed no signs of resource guarding. One of the funniest moments was when Prince met Diesel, the resident cat. Instead of chasing him, Prince was actually scared! Diesel gave him a good stare and poor Prince wasn't sure he wanted to walk past him. Prince also did wonderfully on his walk! With a harness, he walked nicely and only pulled occasionally when an interesting smell caught his attention. He has plenty of playful energy, but it doesn't take much to tire him out. Like any dog adjusting to a new environment, Prince still has a few manners to work on. He occasionally jumped when excited and marked inside the house, but he responded well to verbal correction. He otherwise showed signs of already having some house training. What really stood out was how affectionate, playful, and eager to please he was. His host could easily picture him becoming a wonderful family companion, potentially even with children. Prince has so much love to give, and he's ready for someone to see the amazing dog he already is. He just needs a family willing to give him love, consistency, playtime, and a cozy place to call home. Don't forget his favorite toy. A prince should never have to leave his most treasured possession behind!
