Meet Marci
Marci is a terrier mix, around 5 years old and about 13 lbs.
She is a gentle, affectionate girl who is learning, day by day, that the world can be a safe place. She was found in a garbage bag with 3 puppies, two of them had already passed away. She is in a foster home with her surviving puppy Inky and both are now ready to find their forever homes.
Marci explores the house, plays with her toys, greets her person with a happy little dance, and wakes up excited to start each day. She has come a long way, and there is clearly so much more personality waiting to bloom.
Once Marci trusts you, she is all in. She loves to cuddle, give kisses, sleep beside you, and simply be near her person. She’s smart and observant, picks up routines quickly, and even watches TV. She’s treat-motivated and shows real promise for training.
She’s also an easy dog to live with. Marci is fully potty trained and caught on to outdoor grass pads right away without a single accident. She doesn’t chew household items, get into things, or beg at the table. She eats well without gobbling, settles and naps calmly when left alone, and generally tunes out sirens, traffic, and dogs barking outside.
Most importantly, Marci is gentle. Even when she’s frightened, she has never shown aggression toward people or dogs. She was a star for a nail trim, held calmly while it was done. With visitors she may bark for a minute or two, then warms up and happily accepts attention. She has done well with other dogs in limited introductions.
What she’s still working on:
Some things still scare her. Sudden movements, raised voices, pointing, or someone holding an object while seeming upset can cause her to freeze or cower.
She tends to bark at indoor sounds like doorbells and appliance beeps, and at people or dogs passing the front door. A little calm reassurance usually settles her, though she sometimes likes to have the last word. She feels most secure when she knows where her person is and may get anxious behind a closed door.
Marci hasn’t had much outdoor experience yet. Wearing a harness makes her nervous and leash walking is still new and uncertain for her, so she’ll need patient practice once. Loud holidays like the Fourth of July will likely be hard for her, and her family should take extra precautions so she can’t slip out when she’s scared.
She will need regular brushing, her nails still need continued trimming after arriving severely overgrown, and she’s still figuring out where to put her feet when she climbs on you for affection.
Marci’s ideal home:
Marci will thrive in a calm, predictable, loving home with someone who understands that her fears are real and lets her try new things at her own pace. A quieter household will suit her better than one with frequent large gatherings. She’ll do best with gentle, positive-reinforcement training, consistent routines, plenty of toys and affection, and regular walks once she’s cleared.
Marci isn’t a difficult dog. She’s a loving, intelligent, gentle girl who is still learning to trust the world. The right person will get to watch her become the dog she was always meant to be.
Marci will be vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450
We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495. Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
