Description

Dog Breed: Boxer.

Meet Raine ❤️ Retired Mother. Professional Peacekeeper. Aspiring Lady of Leisure. She's spent her life being everybody's mama. Now she's ready to be somebody's baby. Well, hello there, sweetheart. Raine here. Seven year old, Boxer, and 112 pounds of love, wisdom, and a little extra padding. Yes, I know. Apparently, my ideal figure is somewhere around 80–90 pounds. My foster mama has me on something called a weight-loss plan. After spending years raising litter after litter of puppies, I personally feel I’ve earned a little extra around the middle. She disagrees. A little about my previous career… For several years, I worked full-time in the maternity industry. No holidays, no maternity leave, and certainly no retirement benefits. My body tells the story. Worn elbows, stiff joints, thinning hair, and a figure that has seen better days. But I’m happy to announce that I’ve been spayed and the maternity ward is officially CLOSED! These days, I’m enjoying a well-deserved retirement, complete with comfortable furniture, sunny afternoons, and absolutely no responsibilities. Heavenly. Now, about my roommates. My foster home is full of dogs, some of whom appear to have been raised without a shred of decorum. They’re pushy, excitable, and occasionally ridiculous. Bless their hearts. I’ve raised enough youngsters to know that most nonsense is best ignored. I simply turn around and walk away. Although, I must confess, there’s a little Shih-Poo fellow here who has caught my attention. I’ve even started attempting to play with him! A little bark, a rather awkward play bow, and then… well, I’m not entirely sure what happens next. It’s been a while, you see. My health and beauty regimen. I’ve been thoroughly checked over by the veterinarian, and we’ve discovered I have an underactive thyroid. I’m now on medication, which I’ll likely need for life, and my foster mama says she’s already noticing a little sparkle returning to my eyes. My coat and skin need some TLC, and we’re working on losing weight to help those tired joints. The veterinarian is hopeful that with treatment and good care, I’ll continue to improve. I enjoy gentle walks, although I occasionally forget my manners and pull a little. A front-clip harness helps tremendously. I’m completely house trained, beautifully crate trained, and quiet as a mouse at bedtime or when my foster mama goes out. I’m also a lovely passenger in the car, although I may need a little assistance climbing into taller vehicles. A lady of my stature does not leap about unnecessarily. Toys haven’t particularly interested me yet, but sunshine, comfortable chairs, and leisurely backyard strolls? Now we’re talking. Something rather lovely is happening. When I first arrived, I was content to simply exist. I didn’t ask for much. But lately, I’ve started seeking out my foster mama more often. When the other dogs crowd around for attention, I wait patiently. I’ve waited for plenty of things in my life. But when it’s my turn, I fully expect my share of pets and gentle scratches. And goodness, does it feel nice. I’m even discovering that I might enjoy playing again. Imagine that. Me! So, what am I looking for? Nothing terribly fancy, darling. A soft bed, a sunny spot, gentle walks, good food, and someone who will help me continue getting healthier and stronger. I’m wonderful with the other dogs in my foster home and would happily consider sharing my retirement with a respectful canine companion. Most importantly, I need someone who will look beyond my worn elbows, my saggy figure, and my less-than-perfect coat and see the beautiful girl underneath. Because I’m only six. I may have the personality of a grandmother, but there’s a little girl in here who’s just beginning to remember how to have fun. My foster mama says she wants my next six years to be better than my first. I think that’s a lovely idea. Although, between you and me, I’m hoping for a whole lot more. I’ve spent enough of my life taking care of everybody else. Perhaps now it’s my turn. Love, Rain ❤️ P.S. I’m officially retired from motherhood. Applications for the position of Someone to Spoil Me Rotten are now being accepted. P.P.S. Please don’t tell the little Shih-Poo, but I rather like him. He’s ridiculous, of course. But he makes me smile. *located in Bellevill
