She came in with a collar so deeply embedded in her neck that it had to be surgically removed, a wound that tells you everything about her past and absolutely nothing about her spirit. She loves gently leaning her 69 pounds of sweetness against you like she’s trying to say, “Thank you for seeing me.” And now that her injury has been repaired, Portia is healing, truly healing, in every way. Her neck is almost completely healed and no longer sensitive, and she continues to grow stronger, brighter, and more hopeful by the day.
