Meet Sig! Your future snuggle buddy, professional nose-to-the-ground explorer, and aspiring full-time lap dog!
Sig’s story could have ended in a Houston shelter, but this sweet boy was saved just in time and given a second chance at the life he deserves. Now he’s showing everyone just how special he is!
Sig is visually impaired, but don’t let that fool you. This boy has an incredible nose, a sharp mind, and an impressive ability to figure out his surroundings. Give him a little time to explore, and he can map out an entire house or dog pen in about a day! He can even follow his dog friends around by scent. Who needs GPS when you have a nose like Sig’s?
A few of Sig’s favorite things:
Dog friends! He gets along fantastically with his foster’s dogs and enjoys playing with them, adjusting his play thoughtfully to accommodate his vision.
Stuffies! He may not be particularly toy-motivated, but plush toys are definitely his thing.
ALL the affection. Cuddles, attention, praise, and being as close to his people as physically possible. Personal space? Sig has questions about that concept.
Sniffari adventures. He loves exploring the world through his nose, so walks are full of exciting smells and plenty of investigating.
Sig is also a pretty fantastic houseguest! He’s fully housebroken, 100% crate trained, non-destructive indoors, and sleeps peacefully through the night right beside his foster’s bed. He thrives in the comfort of a home and loves being part of everyday life.
His leash manners could use a little polishing since he tends to follow his nose wherever it leads. His foster has found that a harness works best for helping him navigate walks. Sig isn't especially motivated by food or toys, but praise, affection, and positive reinforcement go a long way with this sweet boy.
What kind of home is Sig looking for?
A home that will give him time to learn his surroundings, help him navigate the world safely, and understand that his vision impairment doesn't stop him from enjoying life. He would love a family who appreciates his affectionate personality and is happy to include him in their daily routine. Another friendly dog could be a wonderful companion for him!
Sig has already overcome so much. He went from facing euthanasia in Houston to discovering the joys of home life, and now he’s ready for the best chapter yet: finding his forever family.
If you’re looking for a loving, goofy, nose-powered cuddle bug who will happily try to fit his whole self into your lap, Sig might just be your guy!
