Phoenix - Mutt Male Dog For Adoption in Palmer, Alaska, USA

Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever / Mixed (medium coat).

Oh, Phoenix. The boy who knows how to pull at our heartstrings. This gentle soul didn’t have the easiest start in life, and while much of his past remains a mystery, we know he wasn’t always given the chance to succeed. But Phoenix is doing just that, one little step at a time! He’s still learning about the world, discovering what it means to be a dog, and building confidence every day. He may be shy when you first meet him and prefer to stick close to his shelter friends, but with gentle pets, yummy treats, and a little patience, you’ll start to see that sweet personality shine. Phoenix has made wonderful progress with his leash skills, knows sit, waits patiently for his food, and gives the BEST hugs. He’s also a clever boy who has mastered every enrichment toy we’ve thrown his way! He loves other dogs, and having canine companions has helped him feel more comfortable in new situations. We’re happy to arrange a dog meet-and-greet to see if he has a furry friend in his future! Phoenix will thrive with a patient, understanding family willing to give him time to settle in and build trust. Busy homes and small children may be overwhelming for him, so a calmer home that matches his gentle pace would be ideal. But don’t let that soft, shy side fool you! Phoenix loves to play, explore new toys, enjoy leisurely walks, and spend one-on-one time with his favorite people. He’s come so far, and we can’t wait for him to find the people who will love him, advocate for him, and celebrate every little victory along the way. Phoenix deserves a chance to feel safe, loved, and home.
