The infection has been fully treated, but they felt we could better find him a forever home due to his Dachshund mix. We are conducting a DNA test to determine his exact mix. Toby gets along well with other dogs but can be hand-shy when someone reaches over his head. This may be due to past experiences, so his adopter should be patient and understanding. Since joining our rescue, he has grown more trusting and is becoming less fearful. He loves to play ball and enjoys the game, even if he doesn’t always bring it back. Our must haves for Toby are: A fenced in yard Another senior dog to hang around with Someone that is retired and can spend time with him as he loves his humans once he trusts No apartments, high rises or condos and he does like to bark at things If you think you can give this sweet boy a home, then reach out to the rescue. He deserves a good home because we are not sure he’s had that. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
