More About American Pit Bull Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: Tucson, AZ
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Sedona is a 6 year old American Bulldog mix. She's a diva and the ultimate couch potato. She and her buddy Winslow were pulled from PACC earlier in 2016. Sedona had issues with her third eyelid on her left eye and was very afraid of people. Tucson Ruff Runners paid for her surgery and now that she can see clearly she's thriving. She loves being around her foster mom and siblings. Her favorite thing to do is snuggle (or eat, this girl loves meal time). Sedona is 50 pounds, house-trained, and is good with other dogs (no cats). Her adoption fee of $125.00 includes her microchip, spay and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine.

Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). My name is Leah and I am sweet, loving and ready for adventure. Looking for an active person/family to go hiking and go for walks. I am still a young lady and learning my proper social skills. I'm so smart and I learn really fast. I already have this potty and crate thing down! I ask to be let outside when I need to go. I love to play with my toys and I am so smart that I already learned that my people's things are not my toys. I just want a person/family to love me as much as I know I will love them.

Posted Breed: Queensland Heeler / Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Standin' on the corner...Winslow is just waiting for his perfect forever home. Nothing too fancy, because he's a low maintenance kind of guy. Just a nice soft bed, good eats, and a gentle hand to stroke his head and scratch behind his ears is all he is really asking for. He loves the company of other dogs, not really to play with, but just to hang around and tell stories to. He will also hang with the felines of the home, and could really care less what they are trying to tell him. Sweet, mellow Winslow is crate trained, house trained, and rides well in the car, pretty much a perfect dog. Although he is a shy boy, once you earn his trust, he will reward you with loyalty and love for years to come. Winslow is just looking for his forever home to take it easy, don't say maybe! Winslow's adoption fee of $125.00 includes his microchip, neuter and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine. A $11.00 license transfer fee will also be collected at time of adoption.

Posted Breed: Chinese Shar-Pei / Mixed. Snoopy has come a long way since he left PACC last year. When he first arrived at his foster's home, he would cower and hide from her and the other dogs. After three months, he finally let his foster mom pet him. After 12 months he has completely opened up into a playful and vocal little man. Snoopy exhibits a lot of behaviors typical of the Shar Pei breed. If you like dogs that make noises, you'll love Snoopy. He snorts, grunts, and makes other pig-like noises while awake and when he sleeps. He is very stubborn but he is learning how to mind his manners. He's also got one of the smooshiest faces, thanks to his shar pei genetics. Snoopy does do well with other dogs and tends to open up to other dogs before opening up to humans. He has thrived in his foster home and is looking for his own home, with a family that understands the shar pei quirks. If you give him time to open up, you'll find he's the sweetest boy in the world. Snoopy is so excited he has begun training classes. Snoopy's adoption fee of $125.00 includes his microchip, neuter and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine. A $11.00 license transfer fee will also be collected at time of adoption.

See Clay's HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Have you been waiting for a really handsome guy, who always wears a tuxedo? I think we’ve found him! Clay is a beautiful, strong Staffordshire Terrier mix. He was rescued from the shelter because of problems with his ears. It turned out he had severe allergies, which had never been treated. In The Arms of Angels paid for an extensive ear surgery on both ears. After a time for recovery, Clay is ready to find his forever home. Due to the untreated ears, he can no longer hear, but is very responsive to hand signals and the vibrations from loud claps, snaps or whistles. Clay is a very loving dog, who only wants to please his person. He has learned some basic commands and is very food motivated. His favorite hobby is chewing on bones. He also like to wrestle stuffed animals. The stuffed animal always loses and gets distributed fairly evenly throughout your house. But, he loves it! Clay likes other dogs, but is a little too curious and rambunctious for cats. He would do best with dogs his size or larger. He likes to go for walks and, with his boundless energy, would probably make a great companion for a runner. Clay is crate trained and housebroken. His spot is stretched out on the couch—right next to his people. Clay will need to have grain-free food to keep his allergies at bay. He also benefits from an allergy pill when the pollen count is high. His ideal family will be very active and not afraid to take on a dog that needs accommodations for his lack of hearing and allergies. He is great with kids, but wouldn’t be much fun for kids under 10, due to his exuberance and size. Clay's adoption fee of $85.00 includes his microchip, neuter and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine.

See Wilbur's HomepageGo to our official websiteYou can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Wilbur is a loyal and loving dog devoted to his people and fur friends. Pulled from the shelter completely terrified of the world, Wilbur has blossomed into a very faithful companion. He is looking for a patient, quiet home with at least one, but preferably many doggie companions. Wilbur is afraid of new people coming to his home, so visitor contact should be limited and controlled. Once you earn his trust, he will love unconditionally and with his whole heart. He loves to go for walks, wrestle with his buddies, and sunbathe on the patio. He also rides well in the car and has perfect housemanners. He still has some residual anxiety about being left alone, but as long as he has his canine friends with him, he does just fine. Wilbur's adorable face and soulful eyes attract a lot of attention, but the attention he is really looking for is from that one or two special people out there who will love him for who he is, a shy boy with some special needs and a huge heart, maybe that someone is you?I prefer a home without children as they scare me.My forever home must have at least one dog for me to play with.Check out more of Wilbur's story at:https://www.facebook.com/SavingWilbur?fref=tsWilbur's adoption fee of $125.00 includes his microchip, neuter and current DHPP and Rabies vaccine.
