Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Bulldog / Mixed (short coat). Munch is a very sweet and cuddly 6 year old AmStaff mix. She was surrendered due to a change in family circumstances. Munch hasn't always had it easy and due to pain in her knees, she often walked funny as a youngster and developed a hump in her back. With a special weight loss plan and pain meds, Munch has been bounding around like a much younger lady, but she will likely always have a slightly hunched physique.Due to her love of people and laid back disposition, Munch has become a volunteer favorite. She is a great pooch to cuddle up on the sofa with or take along on a road trip. Even though Munch loves to spend time with other dogs and cats, she would prefer to be able to have her people all to herself when she's at home and would do best as the only pet.Munch is completely potty trained, up to date on shots, spayed and is free of HW and tick born diseases. She does have a sea food allergy, so her family will need to double check ingredients before purchasing food and treats for this special girl. For more information on Munch, please email us at Catkins_wi@yahoo.com

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Ezra

      rescue
      Breed: Mutt
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: Park Falls, WI
Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Ezra is a 10 month old lab mix who loves the snow! This goofy boy could spend hours cruising through snow drifts, making doggy snow angels and hunting for frozen tennis balls. Being a youngster, Ezra is full of energy, which is why he ended up in need of a new home. He was too much energy for his last family, so he'll be looking for an active home that can keep up with him. He would do best with a family that likes to spend time outdoors and can bring their pooch with them. Ezra is hoping to find a loving family where he can be an only pet and the center of attention. He loves people, but he is a big boy and can be on the bouncy side, so he would do best in a home with older kids that won't be easily knocked over by an enthusiastic greeting. This handsome guy is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He'll be getting microchipped and HW tested later this week, and will be officially ready for his forever home! If Ezra sounds like he could be a good fit for your family, please visit our website www.catkinsrescue.org for adoption applications

Sarabeth is up to date on vaccines, spayed, HW negative and microchipped. For adoption applications, please visit our website www.catkinsrescue.org

      Breed: Beagle-Collie Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Adult
      Location: Park Falls, WI
Posted Breed: Collie / Beagle / Mixed. Buddy is a spunky and goofy 3 year old happy-go-lucky guy. Despite having a rough start that landed him alone and heart worm positive, Buddy has a positive outlook on life and adventure. Now that he has been successfully treated for his heart worm and recovered like a champ, Buddy has enough energy to keep up with even the most active family! After he has enjoyed play time, Buddy likes nothing more than to give his people big hugs and curl up to relax. Buddy would be great in a home with other dogs and older kids, but he definitely needs a home without cats, chickens or small mammals.
