Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Faith is a beautiful American Staffordshire Terrier. She is extremely smart, strong and loyal. Faith hikes, runs along side the bike and loves to walk/play. She is dog selective, prefers big dogs to small and not sure about cats, would take time to integrate cats into her life but nothing is impossible with these dogs. She is house trained and sleeps in her crate, knows commands and some hand signals. Faith has lost her hearing in one ear due to neglect in her prior life but one would never know it as she listens very well and wants to please. She is an amazing dog who will thrive in a breed experienced home.

More About American Staffordshire Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Bandit is a beauty! One year old, timid and shy Staffie boy who loves people and is great with kids and dogs. He would do great with a female dog who is independent and can show him the way as he is eager to learn and to please. We love his energy and positive outlook even after being left at a dog park by his former human. Everything happens for a reason and we are that reason for him. We will do right by Bandit, so if you're looking for an amazing bully boy, he is it.

Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat). Duchess is a beautiful American Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was rescued from death row and in horrific shape. She is 11 years old, sweet as can be and loves attention! Duchess was used as a breeding machine for years, litter after litter she took care of until her sub humans decided they could no longer use her for profit. Her ears were cropped for looks which have endured many untreated infections, her skin was so badly infected and untreated that she lost most of her hair along her back and cysts grew over the bald patches. We have treated all of her health issues and she is now on the road to being her beautiful self she was born to be! I cannot say how much this dog is adored by so many as she has quite the fan base of supporters who cheered and rooted for her while she was in the hospital for over a month to clear pneumonia from her lungs and biopsy her skin. If you're looking to rescue a senior dog who has over come so much and came out a shining star, Duchess is the one!

Luna Belle German Shepherd Mix 14 years young House trained Crate trained Loves going for walks Friendly with dogs Loves people, is a very gentle golden girl with a lot of love to give. Her human left her at the shelter because she was "too old" and when I met her in the shelter she was shut down, depressed, filthy and could barely move due to her arthritis and hip pain. Today, she is happy, smiling and enjoying her daily walks and even taking stairs like a kid. A little love, vet care and the right medicine to fix her up and she's a new woman, a golden girl!
