Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. My name is Pillow, and I am a two-year-old Pit mix. I have been in foster care looking for my forever home for almost a year and a half! I am a good boy, but I have had a rough past. My foster parents saved me from the "kill list" from New York City Animal Control. While they love me dearly, they know that the right thing is to find my perfect forever home. The good news is I am super snuggly! I LOVE LOVE LOVE humans and attention! All I want to do is spend every possible minute with you, whether it is doing chores around the house or watching movies. I am also very active and playful and I am content playing games like tug of war with you or sprinting around the yard with my favorite toy a "jolly ball". The bad news is while I love people, I would PREFER TO BE YOUR ONLY PET because cats are super fun to chase and I don't really know how to interact with other dogs. I could potentially live with the right canine sibling as I did in my original home, but with patience and training. I would really love a home with lots of room for me to run and people who have time to give me lots of attention and love. I could also live in a home with an active family looking for a new running or swimming partner. I am an all terrain kind of dog as I love running, swimming, hiking mountains and curling up on the couch. As long as I have a healthy outlet for my energy I am very well mannered and calm in the house. If you are looking for a constant companion, look no further!

More About American Staffordshire Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Almost 90 pounds of wiggly lap dog! Bundles is both housebroken and crate trained. Bundles asks to go out by shaking paws or going to the door. Bundles loves an occasional ice cube as a treat. He has absolutely no food aggression. He will share and allows food to be removed. He loves to play tug a war. He also will play with stuffies, but has a hard time knowing the difference between his toy and say a sofa pillow. He will drop any toy or object he shouldn't have, in exchange for a snack. Bundles favorite place to be is on your lap. Bundles currently lives with cats and dogs but the cats he lives with are dog savvy. When Bundles wants extra love, he offers a paw, and when you take it he will squeeze your hand. Bundles is just a big ole bed hog lovebug of a dog looking for his FOREVER HOME! Is it with you? Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Caspian is a sweet, loving dog who loves to cuddle up and give love to his foster parents. He has not had an easy start in life but he does not let that get him down. Not only was he surrendered to a high kill shelter, but also developed pneumonia while he was there. His foster parents lovingly nurtured him to health. Caspian will make a great only pet and should go to a home as an only animal. He would thrive in a house with only adults or with older teenagers. He has so much love to give and is patiently waiting for his forever home! Caspian walks well on his leash, is the perfect combination of a fun but not too active dog, sits when asked to, and is happy when he is with people.
