Posted Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat). www.thepitstoprescue.com "Your final stop for your furever friend!" Betty Rue is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix born on 02/01/14. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, crate trained and potty trained. We are trying to help her rescuer find her a furever home!! Betty Rue is a sweet young girl who just wants a human companion to call her own. She would make an excellent running partner and snuggle buddy. She does not get along great with other dogs and would prefer to be an only pet. She is very quiet and patient as well as a quick learner. She’s a breeze to train and just needs some regular exercise to be at her best. Please contact her caregiver at amandagrimleylaw@gmail.com if you are interested in learning more about this precious pup or you can fill out an online adoption application at www.thepitstoprescue.com. We require that ALL current household pets be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and up to date on heartworm prevention. We will require confirmation from your veterinarian. If renting, we must have landlord approval. A fence is not a requirement for ALL of our dogs. Fences are a case-by-case determination.

If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

He was emaciated, covered in mange, full of parasites, and left for dead. WHAT a comeback he has made!! Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. www.thepitstoprescue.com "Your final stop for your furever friend!" REVA NEEDS A FOSTER/ADOPTER!! UPDATE FROM CURRENT FOSTER: Reva is a two year old pittie and as sweet as could be. Reva loves her humans!!! Reva is in need of a home wit h a fenced in yard with lots of room to run around, and is currently most comfortable in an outside kennel. Reva would do great as an only pet but can become familiarized with other dogs with some work. She does not care for cats or farm animals. Reva came to me and we believe she was highly dog aggressive. Now that Reva has become familiar with her surroundings, we have noticed that she can do well with other dogs!! And that she has a touch of anxiety. This is something we are working on! She just has to be introduced slowly. She's been doing so well!! We will be doing socialization therapy while and she will also be attending training with Larry Benoit! Please share in hope to find Reva the perfect home for the holidays! Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). www.thepitstoprescue.com "Your final stop for your furever friend!" Sandra Dee makes being a statuesque goof ball look easy. Don't let this elegant patent leather pitty bull mix fool you though. She is just comfortable playing fetch and hunting mice as she is snuggling on the couch. Sandra Dee was found at about 6 weeks old on a chain with no food or water in the cold. Dee is now almost 2 and has learned how to be a good family member. She is wonderful with other dogs, good with cats that don't run, walks well on leash, is house trained, and uses a doggy door. Dee bonds closely with other dogs and would love to have a doggy brother or sister to play with during the day. Because she likes chasing squirrels, she will need a fenced in yard. She is super smart; knows 'sit' 'shake' 'lay down' and 'touch' and would make an excellent agility dog! And her silly antics will keep you laughing. Dee is heartworm negative, spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped and ready to start a new life with a loving active household.
