Posted Breed: Beagle (short coat). Meet Luke! Luke has all of the quintessential Beagle traits – the beagle bark, performing tasks for treats, cuddling on the couch, occasional mischief and following his nose! Luke is smart, energetic and lovable! He would do well with an active family that provides structure and walks. He loves taking walks downtown and hanging out at the restaurants and dog parks. He’s a bit of an escape artist so it’s important that Luke’s fur-ever home have a secure yard for when he’s outside. Luke gets along well with other dogs and is great with children but does not do well with cats. He is used to being in a crate during the day and is currently being transitioned to being alone without having to be crated for short periods of time. He likes to sleep on the couch or in his bed, and he sleeps through the night. Luke is neutered, has completed his heartworm treatment and is house trained! He’s just waiting for you! Visit Luke’s Facebook page @TBBRLUKE to see more photos and what’s he’s been up to!

More About Beagle Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      rescue
      Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Female Female
      Age: Adult
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed. Adoption Fee: $175.00. Lulu is a lovely lady. She just loves to chill out on the couch or just hanging outside. She is playful with other dogs and likes to shake up a toy. Her previous life doesn't seem to have been the best. She has some older injuries, a few scars on her face, and one of her back paws has only one toe nail and a scar across her foot like it was stuck in a trap. Certainly her life will be much better now that TBBR stepped in and rescued her from the shelter. She would make a great addition to any family. Could it be yours?

He is getting along beautifully with the other pups in the house. He loves his walks! Archie has had a few ear infections so we have been working hard to clear that problem. Through it all he has been a true champ with letting us work on his ears-almost seems grateful for the help! Archie is a sweet and loving senior boy who really deserves a great forever home.

      Breed: Beagle
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $125.00. Goody came to TBBR from north Georgia. We don't know that he spent much time inside before now but he has been quick to learn about the dog door and his potty habits are close to perfect. It took a few weeks before Goody learned to seek the comfort of a dog bed, and after two months in his foster home he has just started to enjoy the view from the couch. Like many senior beagles, Goody likes to keep things low key. He has a limp that we believe to be arthritis, as an x-ray showed no injury. He does like to howl once in a while - not too often but he really seems to enjoy himself. He's a really sweet guy who loves ear rubs and is eager to please.

Sh is housetrained and goes to the door when she needs to go out. She adapted very easily with the other beagle in the house. She has a lot of energy. She is a little bit of an escape artist and needs to be in a secured fenced yard or definitely on the leash when outisde. She does great on walks and is not your typical nose-to-the-ground beagle. Breed: Beagle-Unknown Mix
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $125.00. Tobias is the perfect mix of laid back and playful. He is so sweet - everyone that comes over to his foster home can't believe a great dog like this hasn't been adopted. He loves to cuddle under blank makes for a great companion - so don't let his age deter you! Tobias, aka Toby, is an adorable little guy who found himself at animal control and was never reclaimed. We can't figure out why! He is housetrained, does well in his crate, knows commands and tricks, gets along with his foster brothers and sisters and doesn't seem interested in the cat. Let Toby entertain you with his adorable tricks! So far we have seen him sit, beg, lay down, shake, high five, show his belly, and he knows go get it and fetch. How many beagles do you know who can do that?! He aslo knows obedience commands such as sit, down, off, go lay down, wait, stay, and heel. Toby is better than most beagles on leash. He knows heel and sits when asked - but he needs to continue to practice this frequently. An "Easy Walk" harness helps with any pulling too - he will bark and pull when he sees other dogs on walks- his foster is working with him by having him sit or turning him around when gets too excited by the other dog. Toby would do best with a home that has a fenced in yard. He loves to sun bathe and crawl over the cool soft grass.

The people who found him believe he was hit by a car and knocked into the pond. He was taken to Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center, who then contacted us about taking him in. He has recovered from surgery to repair a broken femur and is now available for adoption. Frankie is very sweet and quiet. He gets along with the people and other dogs in his foster home. As you can imagine, Frankie's medical bills were quite high. If you'd like to donate to help cover the cost, please click the Paypal link on the home page of this website.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $125.00. Macy was a loyal companion to her family for years but then surrendered to the shelter when she got sick. It's been a heartbreaking experience for her because she was very attached to her people. Macy is now in an wonderful foster home ad getting lots of love from the people as well as the senior pit and kitten in the home. She just adores kids and laps up all the attention she can manage. Macy is completely housetrained. She prefers to sleep next to you in the bed but will settle for a dog bed right next to you. She follows her foster mom room to room. She loves to walk and is good on the leash. Macy came in very obese and her fabulous foster family has worked hard to get her weight down so we will try for better pictures now. She just weighed in at 25 pounds! She has struggled with ear infections so we are working hard to clear those up. Macy is a real sweetheart and gets along very well with other dogs. She would love a forever home where she will be treated as the princess she is.

      Breed: Beagle
      Sex: Male Male
      Age: Senior
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Beagle. Hi! My name is Dash and I am a handsome, loving, quirky guy. I will need a very specific type of home but I am worth it - I will love you forever! - No kids - No other dogs - Fenced yard My likes: - Snuggling. Right in your face. I may weigh 27 pounds but I have the soul of a lap dog. Most of the time I will take the hint and snuggle beside you if you need your lap for other things. I also like to tunnel under the blankets on your bed but my foster home doesn't allow that. - Playing fetch/catch. I am really good at this game and will play it as long as you will. I love to chase the ball and bring it back. I'll even drop it close enough so you don't have to get out of your chair. - Eating. I'm a beagle. 'Nuff said. I had some extra weight on me when I came to the rescue but have lost it and will need you to help me stay at a healthy weight. - Approval. I am smart and really want to please my family. I bet you could teach me lots of things! I have shown perfect potty habits in my foster home. My dislikes: - Dogs that are bigger than me. They make me very nervous and I may react by barking and even lunging at them. Lucky for me, most big dogs don't react the same way. I often get along just fine with dogs smaller than me, and my foster home has a guinea pig that I pretty much ignore. - The dog park. I will need a home with a fenced yard so I can play fetch but not have to worry about other dogs. - Vacuum cleaners. Brooms. Treadmills. Lawnmowers. I get a bit stressed and will protect you from them by doing my best to destroy them. *** If you read all the way to the end of this narrative and are interested in meeting Dash, please contact us for a private meet up to see what a great dog he is! If you have any questions we'd be happy to talk with you.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Doobie came into the rescue as a stray. We were told that his owner died and other relatives didn't want him. Doobie co-exists peacefully with the other dogs in his foster household, but he really loves his humans and seems to attach to one person and wants to be with that one person all the time. He is completely housetrained and has been left alone for 4-5 hours with no incident. He doesn't like to be picked up but will jump up on the couch or chair and sit across your lap so you can stroke him. Doobie would do best as an only dog with a single person or a couple who isn't gone for too many hours.
