Posted Breed: Beagle. ** SLEEPOVER PENDING** Snoopy is a full size Beagle who is definitely a mellow fellow. He just gets along with everybody and everything. Snoopy is in a foster home with several other dogs and, although he loves his human interaction, he will happily play with the other dogs. He has also met 4 different cats with not a care in the world for them. Snoopy loves to eat and unfortunately his previous owners let him eat a bit too much so we are working on a weight loss program. Nonetheless, Snoopy is easy to train as long as a treat is his motivation! This gentle boy was adopted from us in 2013 and came back to us as the husband and wife are both in very poor health. Snoopy's fosters do not crated at this time as he is well behaved and has been making excellent grades in house training, He is very afraid of storms and bad weather so we have been working on various methods of helping him to cope with that. If you are interested in this big, awesomely loveable beagle boy, we would be happy to share more details.

More About Beagle Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Breed: Beagle

Posted Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $150.00. Willow is a sweet senior girl who found her way to safety and a new life by squeezing under the gate of a young lady in Tennessee and running up to her house. When she arrived her nails were three inches long, all of her front teeth were either broken or worn down to the gum, she was covered in fleas and ticks and her skin was a mass of bleeding sores and scabs. There is no doubt her life up to that point was one of complete misery. The young lady took pity on Willow and immediately took her to a vet for care and contacted SEBR to see if we could help. Willow is now on her way to health. She has gained weight and is growing a beautiful soft coat. She is a loving girl who enjoys being petted, taking walks and snuggling in her dog bed. She has done well with housetraining and sleeps quietly beside her foster parents bed or in her crate at night. She gets along well with other dogs and everyone she meets. She loves children and is very gentile with them. Her tail is constantly wagging and follows her foster parents everywhere they go. Willow does not like to be alone and vocalizes her displeasure when her foster family leaves the house but does settle down pretty quickly and rests quietly in her crate until they return. Willow does have some loss of hearing but this does not hinder her interaction with others. This sweet senior girl deserves a forever home where she can feel safe and loved and receive the loving care that she missed in her previous life.

IZZY seems to be housse trained, does not mind being in her crate and does well with other dogs. We do not know IZZY's background so we are not surprized when she is cautious when meeting new people.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $275.00. New Arrival. TREVOR is an adorable smaller male who is making positive strides every day with his shyness. He is housebroken and loves to play outdoors and loves his toys. He came in with TRISTA and seems to be quite bonded to her. He follows whatever she does but slowly has been journying out on his own. It would be wonderful if they were adopted together but they will be fine being adopted separately as well. He gets along with dogs of all sizes and is crate trained. We feel the ideal family for TREVOR would be someone with experience and patience with handling a very shy dog and someone who is home most of the day. TREVOR would also thrive better with another dog. We will update his progress as he comes out of his shell.

Posted Breed: Beagle. Adoption Fee: $175.00. NEW ARRIVAL: SWEETIE II is appropriately named as we are finding her to be one sweet and friendly Beagle girl. She never passes up an opportunity to walk up to people for pats and belly rubs. This 7-year-old young lady is as alert and active as most of the other beagles in our rescue. Going up and down stairs, riding an elevator and walking on hardwood or tile floors is no challenge for her. She does well in her crate and enjoys sleeping in. She enjoys the company of other dogs and will bark out a "hello" when she sees another dog on the television. SWEETIE is relaxed and affectionate and has not displayed any anxiety during her transition period from transport to being in her foster home. You will always see SWEETIE wagging her tail, letting everyone know just how happy she is because she knows her dream of finding her forever home may be just around the corner! One of her favorite times is taking a trip to the dog beach! All in all, you can say that SWEETIE is an easy girl to please and likes just about anything except....sanitation trucks!
