Posted Breed: Boxer. Meet Bellina! This beautiful affectionate girl loves to play with tennis balls, is a big snuggler and wants to be right next to her humans!! She has been working hard on getting her girly figure back (she came in to the rescue obese) and is enjoying her time with her canine companions. She has the one ear that sits on top of her head like an ear hat...such a silly lady! She also likes to chill and just wants a family to call her own! Ask to learn more about this sweetie.

Boxer

A.K.A. : German Boxer, Deutscher Boxer
Overview: The Boxer is surprisingly good with children. This breed has a playful nature, yet is patient and intelligent. With early training, a Boxer can provide a strong and watchful companion to all family members.
Breed Group: Working

Height (in): male: 22.5-25, female: 21-23.5
Colors: Fawn and brindle, both with or without white flashing and black mask.
Coat: White should not cover more than a third of the dog. Coat is short and smooth.
Character: Boxers tend to be very friendly and intelligent dogs. They bond very closely with their family.
Temperament: The breed gets along especially well with children. They also can get along well with most other dogs and household pets. They can be naturally inclined to protect a family from intruders.
Care: The Boxer can get by with an occasional good brushing.
Training: This breed needs special consideration in training to not jump on people, but it learns quickly. A consistent effort will pay off during training.
Activity: The Boxer requires a lot of exercise, including long walks and playing in the yard.
Country of Origin: Germany
Health Issue: This breed has some major concerns such as cardiomyopathy, sub-aortic stenosis, and hip dysplasia. They are occasionally prone to epilepsy and, in later years, may be prone to tumors. They have a tendency toward allergies and heart problems.

More About Boxer Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Posted Breed: Boxer. Hi there, my name is Rita. It’s been a long journey since BLR saved me, 7 months to be exact, and I am ready to meet my forever family. I really didn’t know what to expect when I met my foster family with 4 kids and their own BLR boy. My skin was really sensitive, and I didn’t like to be touched. That’s all changed now and I'm doing really well considering. I also didn’t know I was AWESOME with little kids and babies, and my foster boxer brother showed my how to play although he’s kind of a spaz. I learned so much like not to go to the bathroom in the house, and I’m crate trained, and have basic obedience. I learned my place in the pack, so don’t be surprised if I follow you. My foster parents say I’m pretty chill for a boxer. I don’t jump up on people, not even kids, I don’t bark a lot but I love to sleep. Speaking of sleep, I’m told I snore like a grown man, but I’ve never heard it so I’m not so sure. When you’re ready, I’ll be here waiting.

Hiking, running, large back yard and a canine companion of like size and energy would be perfect. Are you the family willing to give Sansa a life of love and fun?

Posted Breed: Mastiff / Boxer. Meatloaf - like good old comfort food, this handsome brindle boy will warm your heart and give you comfort and companionship. Sweet, sweet guy looking for love, Meatloaf is affectionate, sweet and very smart. Found stray by a Good Samaritan, he became part of the Boxer Luv family as soon as we met him. He was a bit shy but quickly warmed up to all of us once he knew he was safe. Because of his size, we suggest older considerate kiddos only and an active family who can give him all the exercise he needs to play and live a life he deserves - filled with fun and love.

Posted Breed: Boxer (short coat). Hi everyone! I'm a tall, dark and handsome brindle boxer boy searching for my perfect forever home. I am through all that puppy stuff and would love a home where I can chill, yet still be active when you are! I have all my basic training down. One of my favorite pastimes is playing fetch and playing in the hose. You will often see me carrying around one of my toys. My current foster can't help but smile when I am so excited to see her and run to the door with a toy. I love to chase birds and rabbits in the backyard. My forever home should be one with alpha leader and a more quiet and mature household. I'd prefer to be the only pup in the house. Otherwise, a submissive female is the best fit. If you are looking for a classic boxer boy please ask for more details!!
